Performance
Proven reliability
The performance of a Poinçon de Genève-certified timepiece is assessed on the finished watch. Every watch, without exception, undergoes four tests prescribed by the regulations. In fine watchmaking, beauty and performance are inseparable.
Accuracy
Accuracy lies at the heart of horological performance. Each timepiece is tested over seven days under simulated wearing conditions designed to reproduce real-world use. Over this period, its total rate deviation must not exceed one minute. The Poinçon de Genève thus certifies accuracy proven over time.
Water resistance
Water resistance protects the movement from external influences that could impair its proper functioning. Each timepiece undergoes dry pressure and vacuum tests to verify its water resistance. This requirement ensures that the beauty of the movement is matched by protection essential to its reliability.
Power reserve
Power reserve measures how long a timepiece can continue to run after being fully wound. The Poinçon de Genève verifies that the actual duration meets or exceeds the value stated by the manufacturer. This test confirms that the performance promised is delivered by the movement itself.
Functional testing
Calendar, chronograph, moon phase, second time zone or any other complication: every function must be tested over a complete cycle. The Poinçon de Genève thus ensures that the timepiece is not only perfectly finished, but fully functional. Reliability is proven in every function, down to the smallest detail.
